White Pure Wool Rug (Daisy) | Hand Woven on a Peg Loom in the UK

This rustic pure wool rug is woven by a specialist weaver on a traditional peg loom in North Dartmoor, using washed natural fleece from our Devon Closewool sheep. The chunky, substantial texture works well beside fireplaces, in reading corners, and other lived-in spaces.

Wool and Weaving

The peg loom creates a distinctive thick weave that highlights the natural qualities of Devon Closewool wool. Unlike our other rugs made with carded wool rovings, Daisy is crafted directly from washed fleece, creating a more chunky and rustic appearance. Each row builds depth and texture, finished with hand-knotted edges. The rug fits naturally in both old cottages and newer homes.

From Our Flock

The wool comes from our Salcombe farm's Devon Closewool sheep. These sheep produce particularly soft, bright wool with a natural cream colour. Each rug carries the specific characteristics of this traditional Devon breed, with the natural fleece texture preserved throughout the process.

Local Production

We keep the entire process in Devon. We shear the sheep and prepare the wool through washing (without carding it into rovings), which is then woven on a peg loom by a specialist weaver in North Dartmoor. This direct method lets us maintain the wool's natural, rustic qualities through each step.

Practical Benefits

The thick, chunky weave of pure Devon Closewool fleece makes this rug sturdy and warm. We leave the wool undyed to keep its natural colour and authentic texture. The dense, rustic construction gives the rug substance and durability that improves with use, while maintaining the wool's natural character.
